Legacy of the Founder The Late Overseer Carrie E. Loyd

From the desk of Overseer Carrie Loyd:

God specializes in things that seem impossible. Do you have faith to believe? Do you know that you can pray and the Word says, “Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it,” John 14:14. I’ve been walking with Jesus for a long time, and I’m not tired yet.

Overseer Loyd was a trailblazer for the Lord preaching and teaching the Gospel and paving the way for other women who would come after her. Understanding the assignment of God on her life, she spoke truth, even when it was unfavorable. There was a special anointing on her life especially in faith, prayer, and encouragement. God used her greatly in these gifts insomuch that through her mentorship, many saints have been elevated to leadership (Bishops, Overseers, Apostles and Pastors).

Overseer Loyd loved the church and the things of God. She loved to sing and direct the choirs. To her, the music had a story to tell, and the sound would excite the service. Which is why she would often play the drums even if she had to use one stick, even if there was a base drum, she played until the power of God came into the Temple. She also loved the challenge of raising money for ministry, because she wanted to see the church flourish and the members prosper. She enjoyed her journey with Christ and because of that she was able to experience miracles time and time again. She honestly believed that Jesus was enough! Her faith and commitment to the work of God is why the evidence of God was all over her life. Miracles, signs, and wonders followed her; from stopping a fire with prayer, using the power of God to heal cancer instantly, to baptizing an individual in a pool at a cook-out. From the day she received Christ to the day Christ received her, she continued to operate in the power and authority of God. She could turn the most mundane activities like grocery shopping, into opportunities to witness about the truth of the Gospel. Some people may affect the lives of others, but Overseer Loyd changed the lives of the people she connected with. She became a mother to those without a mother, provided clothing, and fed those who had nothing, just as the Bible instructed her to do. Overseer Loyd lived to serve God! It can truly be said that she was consistent about her fathers’ business, putting others before herself. She showed the true love of God, by the meaning of her name: Concerned About Real Righteousness In Everyone.

Her love for the people of God extended beyond the walls of the sanctuary; she spent her life in the community and giving
back to others. She created an award-winning community garden to feed the neighborhood. She opened living quarters for
men returning from prison, to have a place to live and work. The residents in the living quarters were employed by a car
wash program she ran to build self-reliance, work ethic and hope. She has started and managed a soup kitchen, summer
camp, after school program, food pantry and daycare. When it came to the youth, Overseer Loyd constantly looked for
activities and programs for them, and young children to keep them safe and active; the young people held a special place in
her heart.

Overseer Loyd used these same attributes in her professional life. She earned a living by working in Human Services. She
loved working with marginalized demographics such as the elderly, the less fortunate, and those with disabilities. She had a
career as a Certified Nurses Aid, a job she maintained until retirement. Once while helping someone find a place to live, she
came across a CTH (Community Training Home) that had three DDS (Dept. of Developmental Services) individuals, who
would be displaced by the move. She agreed to bring all three (Dwight, Willie and Bob) into her home and then later a 4th
person, Pam.

Overseer Loyd was compassioned about making the ministry a place where everybody was somebody. She insisted on greeting everyone, especially the visitors. She was the kind of leader that always remembered and showed love towards the people; by visiting the sick in the hospital, keeping up with the families and most of all praying for everyone she encountered. Even in sickness she maintained her faith; quoting scriptures that she could no longer see on the pages and not missing a word, instructing her home aids to call people so she could pray for them and even declaring that God still specializes in things that seem impossible. Her motto, Revelation 2:10 “Be thy faithful unto death…” A scripture printed on the window of her church and a faithful command that she lived out until the end.
