The Vision & History of Faith Outreach Apostolic Church

Faith Outreach Apostolic Church was birthed in 1985 through the late Overseer Carrie E. Loyd. God spoke to her and gave her a vision.

In the Beginning:

She was inspired by God to start a great work in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Through much prayer, fasting, and meditation The New Way of Life Deliverance Apostolic Church was founded on November 24, 1985. II Cor. 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away, behold all things are become new. During the first Sunday's service Evangelist Carrie Loyd prayed and asked God for a message and a theme song for the church. The theme song was given to us by God in the form of a hymnal. It is entitled “Ready''. The words were appropriate and coincided with the message. “Ready to suffer grief or pain, Ready to stand the test; Ready to stay at home and send others, if he sees best. Ready to go, ready to stay, Ready my place to fill; Ready for service lowly or great, Ready to do his will." The Holy Spirit moved upon our Evangelist Loyd and filled her with a missionary message for the church. The message stated that “It is time to seek those that are lost." The mission of this ministry became, as it is stated in Luke 14:1, To seek for those that are lost, wounded, depressed, oppressed, and abused and bring them to the Lord.

From The Basement to The Storefront:

In May of 1986, God opened a door for the church to be able to move to 1313 Boston Avenue.

Dedication of The Church:

On June 1,1986, we held a Dedication service to consecrate the Church's property and members. It was at this time that Evangelist Carrie E. Loyd was installed as Pastor of this ministry. There was also a prayer of consecration prayed for the members that were present. God blessed the service!

Transition to 32 Bond Street Bridgeport:

Shortly after going into 1313 Boston Avenue the Lord showed Pastor Loyd through a vision that the corner was ours. God revealed to her that a crane was over the Old Post Office building. At the time she did not understand the crane being over the Old Post Office building. It was believed that we would be buying 1313 Boston Avenue. As time went on the Old Post Office moved out of that building and moved to their new home on Boston Avenue. The Lord blessed us, and we were able to move into this building. Even though the rent was pretty high in price, and the asking price for the building was astronomically high, we had only a few tithe payers however, the Lord let Pastor Loyd know she had what she needed to get the job done. Though sometimes all the circumstances looked like they were turned against this ministry, our leader and Pastor stood on the promises of God. The Lord stepped in right on time and took control over the situation. The windows of Heaven were sprung open and the faithfulness of the omnipresent God of our lives poured down blessings.

The Purchase of 32 Bond Street:

The Lord sent forth prophesy through our Prophetess, Evangelist Bellamy. He spoke the words through her that there would be one man that was going to bless us and put us in the position to buy this building. By faith we waited patiently for this man to come along with the good tidings. While we waited some other folks came and tried to buy the building also but were not successful. All of a sudden, one day, this man came in and bought the 32 Bond Street and 1313 Boston Avenue buildings as a package deal. The man who purchased the property wanted to let the church remain here, so he sold this building to us for about one fifth of what they wanted for the whole property. What a mighty God we serve!

Restoration of the Building:

As with any older building this one needed repairs. The roof was seriously in need of reconstruction. The bathrooms needed to be overhauled, the sanctuary needed to be refurbished, Pastor Loyd needed an office, and we needed to eat and cook in an area where there was no rain pouring on us.

The Roof:

The roof was the first major project that we worked on. The roof was originally a flat roof. Due to the cost of a flat roof versus an A-Frame roof, the members agreed to go with the flat roof. The spirit of God moved on Pastor Loyd and let her know that she was not to settle for the flat roof, so we went forth with the A-Frame roof. We picked a contractor and we started to discuss with him the plans for the roof. The contractor told us that we would need to bring a prefabricated roof in and that he would need the use of a crane. It was at this time that Pastor Loyd realized what God was showing her in the vision with the crane over ten years ago. On the day that they came with crane to put the prefab up, Pastor Loyd was able to stand and be a witness that God is real! He may not come when we want Him, but He is always right on time!

The Bathrooms:

As we began the remodeling inside, we needed more space in the back. The first thing that was done was that we built new bathrooms in the front of the building so that no one had to walk around the pulpit to use the bathroom during service. There was a lot of work involved in this because the basement of this building stops where the dining room is. The rest of the building is sitting on a concrete slab. We then had to rip up a good part of the parking lot to run the plumbing for these bathrooms because of this. The process started off slowly, but God stepped in and we finally got the bathrooms and adjacent offices completed.

The Sanctuary

It took a lot of money, time, and effort to complete the bathrooms and offices. When they were completed, it seemed as if we remained idle for a long time, trying to recuperate and regenerate funds to go forward. Then all of a sudden God sent new talent and new means into the church to go forward with the work in the sanctuary. The work just went on from there and hasn't stopped.

Dining Room, Kitchen, and Pastor's Office

Once we got a good grip through God's divine guidance on the sanctuary, we decided to begin work on the back of the building. The old bathrooms had already been gutted out from when we made the transition with the bathrooms. Now there was just a shell left in its place that needed to be reformed. God provided means to go through and remodel it into a dining room, baptism room, kitchen, and pastor's office. It took a lot of sleepless nights (literally), but God gave us the strength to finish it.

Special Gratitude to You All

As you walk around and look at the beauty of the building, and as you view some of the pictures that are displayed, you can see that God has brought us from a mighty long way. We thank God for a Pastor and Overseer of faith with a vision. This is a true woman of God who knows how to fast and pray and wait on the Lord. She will instruct you to do the same. We thank the Lord for her hard work and labor in the vineyard.

We thank all of you who have helped make this church what it is, and we thank God for all of your labor and love. May God richly bless and keep you and may Heaven yield her blessings unto you.
